SWINS is a wireless sensor
network, which consists of small acceleration sensors
connected to radio transmitter-receivers and a base
unit connected to a PC with RS-232C (USB and Ethernet
available). All of acceleration waveform data from sensors
can be stored in a HDD of the PC. Each sensor works
as an autonomous communication node and makes self-assembling
into a network of sensors. Intermediate nodes assist
distance nodes to reach the base station.
- 255 sensors can be placed in a system
- Light weight, small physical size and battery
operated
- Radio license and approvals are unnecessary
- USB communication port and Ethernet port will
be available in the future
